ASHFIELD
ALTERATIONS & ADDITIONS 1

for Private Client
2004
As part of a group of bungalows listed as heritage items by Ashfield Municipal Council, the alterations and additions to this property were designed to sympathetically respond to both the heritage issues and the needs of the clients. The brief was to enlarge the house by demolishing previous dilapidated additions, and create a new generous family living area extending into and connecting with the rear garden.
Consideration has also been given to the additions environmental performance, and control of internal natural lighting, with retractable venetian blinds protecting the glazing from the northwest orientation.
The new additions include a new open plan family living room filled with soft natural light filtering through high level glazing on three sides; a generous new deck allows the family room to be transformed into a large verandah extending into the garden, when its doors are fully retracted; a new bedroom with discrete access to a new bathroom; and a new laundry and storage have also been accommodated in the additions.
