A Room for Steve Reich is one of the Event Horizon series of works, exploring void and boundary through flashes of light in transposed phases. This site specific piece was the first work in the series introducing a kinetic element to the work with lights hung from slow moving pendulums, adding a secondary phase and rhythm to those of the flashes.
The lights both momentarily illuminate the room in a burst of white as well as creating a blue pointilised display through the window front in an intangible, illusive, poetry of syncopated flashes.
