POST PATINA, SHOPPING
Sydney Esquisse

Installed at Published Art Bookshop, Surry Hills

2006
A site specific installation, conceived in response to the Sydney Esquisse Design Festival theme of Shopping. This work is about “shopping of the everyday”, not fetishistic shopping or over consumption of luxury products. In a time when many people can’t afford the necessities, just as many are unhappy with the ample possessions they have.
Significant generative features of this work are the beauty of the familiar and every day, and the poetry in the Post-It repeat defining space, light and shade in a subtle way.
Made from the grocery shopping lists of friends and family, Post Patina-Shopping offers a glimpse or fragment of someone’s life, assembled into a collective of notes.
The Post-It Note presents an opportunity to produce an ephemeral work rich in texture, form and content.
