BANKSTOWN APARTMENTS

for Gridcorp Pty Ltd
2003 - 2009

in association with Hill Thalis

Shortlisted NSW Architecture Awards 2010
Designed for the increasingly dense and urbanised Bankstown City Centre, the development comprises 55 apartments, including home offices. It has been configured as two residential towers located over a 3 storey carpark podium "clad" to the street by 2 & 3 storey residences.
The facades are designed with concern for solar access, shading, and privacy, as well the building's character as principle considerations. A combination of robust precast concrete expression with a finer overlay of colourful perforated aluminium screens and balustrades was developed affording the project a considered and sophisticated expression.
The towers have been arranged in a T-plan presenting a substantial and distinctive facade to the street, consisting of single storey two and three bedroom apartments, many with dual orientation. The rear tower consists of predominantly
two bedroom two storey cross-over apartments, set back from the northern boundary affording a high level of solar access and privacy from the apartment building to the north.
